Dental Phobia

Sleep Dentistry

General Anaesthesia is a state of controlled unconsciousness where medications are used to send you to sleep. You are unaware of the surgery and will not feel any pain or discomfort. This is a popular treatment with those with phobia.

You are unaware of the surgery and will not feel any pain or discomfort . It is administered by inhalation or intravenously.

If you are unsure which method of sedation or Anaesthesia would be best for you, or if you have any concerns, our Specialists will be happy to speak with you. Both of these options require prior completion of our Medical Questionnaire with a discussion on the procedures and suitability for individual patients.

Our primary focus is on a safe and gentle environment for your dental care. We will guide you through your treatments with a high level of care and attention.

Sedation is a depression of awareness between a relaxed consciousness and being very sleepy . It is administered by medication being given by inhalation , intravenously or by mouth.

Sedation dentistry is used to provide a relaxing and anxiety-free experience for nervous people receiving dental treatment.  It may be the answer if you are reluctant to change the appearance of your smile because you are afraid or anxious about undergoing long or complicated dental procedures while totally awake.

Sedation dentistry can make you feel comfortable with little memory of the treatment, helping you achieve a smile you can be proud of.

According to the Dental Organisation for Conscious Sedation (DOCS Education) 30% of the population avoids the Dentist due to fear.  This “dental phobia” prevents people receiving necessary routine dental care, potentially compromising the health of their mouth and smile.

With over 20 years’ experience of dealing with every degree of dental phobia, you are in safe hands with us. We treat around 4,000 patients a year with the aid of Sedation and General Anaesthetic.

As a Parkway patient you will benefit from our relaxed Dental experience, but if you need more assistance, we uniquely offer nervous and phobic patients the option of local anaesthesia dentistry, sedation dentistry or general anaesthesia dentistry for all dental procedures, depending on suitability.

Do not put off your treatment due to fear. Find out about a gentle dental experience with the highest level of patient care. We have successfully treated many patients who would otherwise have avoided visiting the dentist routinely or in emergency circumstances.
